2 YEARS AGO.....

Today is the 2nd anniversary of my Mom's death. I must admit.....this year as brought less tears then last year. Maybe that is because I cried so much yesterday instead??? This evening a dear friend brought me these.....

SO YUMMY! The story behind the chocolates.....besides they are just "to die for" (that is for you Katie).....is that my Mom and I love See's. From the time I was a little girl we would come to Salt Lake to shop and always make a special trip into See's. We would sit and "argue" about which chocolates were the best. She like Nuts and Chews, I liked Soft Centers and Truffles. She always won.....after all, she had the money. By the time I was an adult she decided that Soft Centers were good too and she would always buy TWO boxes each time she came....one for me and one for her (we would then share, of course!) My absolute favorites are the dark chocolate truffles. This is the second year someone has remembered that and brought me a box on this day. Love ya Becky and Kim! Thanks for remembering!!!
Last year we started decided to write Grandma letters and send them up to heaven on a balloon. It was a really nice way of making the day special. We have decided to make it a tradition each year. This year was a pretty windy day....the balloons lifted much faster then last year. I was barely able to get a photo of them blowing away. We added our email address this time. Maybe someone will find them and let us know how far they went. All of the family, in each different state, go to a park or the cemetery and let go of our balloons at the same time. It is a really neat family moment. Ty couldn't get out of football practice so we are missing him... :(
The purple is for Mom.....her favorite color. Well, one of them!

We love you Mom......people say it gets easier with time....I don't think so. I think we just learn to live with the heartache. I am trying to do better but being without a Mom is an empty feeling. There is nothing that can replace that relationship. Hope you are happy doing the Lords work Mom!!! Hugs and Kisses...Penny

That's such a cute tradition! I hate to say it, but I'm with your mom. Nuts and chews all the way! I do love their key lime truffles though... Have you tried those?

I'm glad Becky remembered you this year. :)
You always remind me to cherish my Mother while I've got her here. Thanks for that.
(the best are the lemon truffles BTW)

That is so sweet that your friends remembered. What good frieds. I am not a chocolate lover so it really doesn't matter to me. :(
I am so happy that you were able to be at the park. I hope that someday we can all be home together doing it.
Love you so much.

I saw the balloons flying up in the air (Cameron had a game there) I didn't realize it was you. That is so neat for you guys to keep her alive in your hearts and your daily lives. Sending hugs your way...

We grew up on Sees candy, and eventually my Mom would cut them all in half so that we could see what was in the middle without taking a bite. Who wants a nut in their chocolate??

(Now that I'm older, I don't mind so much)

And I am with you - I don't think it ever gets easier. You might lose some of the sting, but the pain is still there.

Love you!

Soooo true, it doesn't get easier, you just learn to live with the heartache! Mom spent a lot of money over the years on See's. Aren't they like $20 a box? They are dang good though!!
